Monster of the Day #562

“Mr. Hinchcliffe, Nigel Kneale’s solicitor is on line three.”

  • Beckoning Chasm

Just watched this on Amazon Instant the other day. While the writing is terrific and the atmosphere really creepy, the effects–the adult forms in particular–are really bad.

    ch-ch-ch-Chia!

Never bring a glue gun to an alien monster fight.

  • Ken_Begg

It’s a nose / ear hair trimmer. Ironically, not his biggest grooming issue right now.

I just want to pop that bubble wrap so bad.

  • bgbear_rogerh

hah, that was my alternative snark. (seriously I think it might be with a handle attached).

When aliens hock up loogies. Ewwww…
Tis a British fest this week, Eh wot?

  • Man! When King Kong sneezes, watch out!

  • Nigel Kneale’s solicitor was busy hounding Doctor Who LONG before Ark in Space. The thefts were quite common and not always subtle.

I love Ark in Space. It’s got plot holes here and there, but for the most part it represents everything the series should be. Ignoring the special effects, of course.

(That said, considering their budget, they pulled off a hell of a lot in this story.)

  • Luke Blanchard

I have a theory the ending of the first episode was inspired by the end of one of the episodes of the TV version of “Quatermass and the Pit”, where (spoiler warning) the characters get into the nose of the craft, and one of creatures falls out of place.
