    So…he’s stepping out of the ring. Did he pass through it, and some how miss stepping on the clowns? How did he get in the ring anyhoo?
    Why am I asking all this, and applying logic to a 60’s marvel comic book?

    I was thinking the same thing.  Why do all those people looked surprised?  Unless he was teleported into the ring it would have taken some time for him to amble to where he appears on the picture.  There should have been plenty of time for the audience to get used to the idea of the big orange monster and beat a quick retreat.
