Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to one and all! Here’s to another year of bad movies and worse puns!

And nice Ken has posted a MotD from a movie that I’ve actually seen again – hooray for Spaceballs!!! ;)

Happy new Year all! (I’m kind of excited, I’m working on my last Video Cheese piece for Ken, so maybe some of them will start showing up soon!)

My own New Years post went up yesterday. The first Oddball Film Report of 2012: BIGFOOT (1969/72)!

Regarding ALIEN, I finally saw the film straight through last year, along with ALIENS. I still find the first film highly over-rated, and way too bloated/stretched out for the meager amount of plot we’re served. The sequel was a completely different animal, and all the better for being so.

I really like the Michigan Rag.

    CHECK, PLEASE!

  • I always love it on New Years Eve when they count down from 10 and the baby chestburster pops out.

You should give Alien 3 a whirl.  It’s much maligned, but it’s a better film than anyone ever wants to give it credit for.  It has the more action of 2, but keeps the somewhat claustrophobic feeling of the original.  If nothing else, it’s a sad reminder of the dangers of studio meddling.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Probably my favorite movie of all time.  Certainly made an impact on my artwork.

    “Oh no, Not again.”
SPACEBALLS. Yiddish Schtick a galaxy thick.

  • The Rev.

I saw this movie young enough that this scene absolutely terrified me.  I hadn’t quite caught on to what the facehugger had done, so when Kane started thrashing around and that blood erupted on his shirt, I was in a near-panic, trying to figure out what was going on.  I actually calmed down a bit when this thing finally came out, as at least now my fear had a face, even if said face was still horrifying.

It hasn’t quite held up to that viewing, of course, but I still adore it.  Just some really great scares in this movie, and of course what might be the best movie monster of all time.
