Monster of the Day #189

Finally! Fully recovered from B-Fest!

  • P Stroud

Outer Limits as I recall. Or Peter Lorre watching Baywatch.

    or a Tex Avery cartoon.

I have to question the advantage of having giant eyes on a planet that doesn’t have night. Anyway I actually watched this episode a few days ago and I remember Warren Oats looked like he stumbled in one scene so he probably had difficutly seeing through those things.

  • BeckoningChasm

According to the Outer Limits book that came out some years ago, the eyes kept popping off his face because of the heat from the studio lights.

  • roger h

I forgot it was Warren Oates and now all I can think of looking at this picture is that he is saying:

“You better hit those bunks my little babies, or Sergeant Hulka with the ‘big eyes’ is gonna see how far he can stick them . . .”

So who does it better Warren Oates or Gary Lockwood?

  • Ericb

Off topic (I wish there was a message board here) but I thought some of you might get a kick out of this, it’s a Russian ripoff of MST3K with the Dr. Forrester knockoff looking like a certain German dictator from the 1930′-40s:

I wonder how strict the censorship in Russia is because I’m sure there is a ton of Soviet era material that would be perfect for some savage riffing.

  • roger h

I got a kick out of that Russian MST3K.

Funny thing is that Joel & Mike have riffed Soviet films several times although they were chopped up and disguised by folks like Roger Corman. I would try to find the examples but, you folks know them as well as me.

  • Ericb

There were those weird Finnish-Soviet fairy tale cross productions as well.

  • fish eye no miko

Poor Fred will never quite recover from watching “2 Girls, 1 Cup”.

  • Rock Baker

One of the early episodes I saw that first night TNT was showing the first Outer Limits marathon! That event marking the first time in years the show had even been broadcast. I still have one of the tapes we made that night. Some very warm memories there.

    And welcome home, Ken!

  • @Ericb I for one welcome the glorious peoples cinema revolution. Cast off the chains of B-movie oppression comrades!
