Monster of the Day #184

Open the door you’ll find the secret
To find the answer is to keep it
You’ll believe it when you find
Something screaming ‘cross your mind…

  • I saw this in the drive-in when I was 13 or so, and it was the greatest film I’d seen to that point. Me and my friends spent literally MONTHS mocking, rehashing, and enjoying it. What a hoot.

he had the monster at his mercy and then, the phone rang. . .

I’m constantly wavering on whether this or The Blob had the best theme song ever. Nowadays I tend to lean toward this.

This has been on my DVR for months, and will stay there until I finally pick up the DVD.

I’m seriously thinking of producing a sequel to this some day. I’m thinking of calling it Plague of the Green Slime (Night of the Green Slime? Curse of? Day?), and it will take place on an island in the Pacific where a piece of the meteorite lands after the explosion, at a research station/resort. It’ll take place right alongside the first film’s events, and will even feature footage from it. I plan to make arrangements for the first film to recieve a theatrical reissue one month prior to the sequel’s release. I hope I can count on your (non-financial) support in making this dream a reality.

That sounds awesome Rock! I’d buy that on DVD!

Only thing I didn’t like was too much of the two COs arguing and not enough slime! And it seemed odd that a Japanese/European co-production didn’t have a single Japanese actor in the cast.

PS- was thinking that the D&D monster called the ‘roper’ looks a great deal like the slime. Wonder if they ‘borrowed’ the idea?

PPS- Happy to note that neither Captain Sheridan or Sisko decided to deal with a threat to their station by burning it up!

    LOL!
    “No, I don’t wanna change my long-distance ca-ARRGGHH!!!”

    Rock–

That would be awesome beyond belief. And, if nothing else, certain to be a sponsored event at a B-Fest.

I’ve been out of work for a while but would be more than willing to support such an endeavor. (If I could.)

It might be a while in coming, but I’m determined to get the project made. At this point I’m more likely to get it put out as a comic book, but even that would be pretty cool. (You just can’t use the song in a comic book…)

Only fitting that Ken should post this after a post about MST3K.
