Worst Highlander ever!

Is it just me, or is the latest campaign for the Highlander SUV (or whatever it is) the most obnoxious ad campaign ever. I’m pretty pro-capitalist, but basing a campaign around an incredibly smug 10 year old who spends all his time jeering at and mocking his peers whose parents don’t own something as ‘cool’ as a Highlander is insane. Highlander: The Vehicle for Parents Who Want Their Kids to be Insufferable Assholes.

I really, really want to see that kid get the holy freakin’ crap kicked out of him. Where’s Nelson Muntz when you need him? Oh, and I’ll pay double if he beats up that Zoom Zoom kid, too.

  • I’m 100% behind Ken on this. Who in hell decided that consumers want a freaking kid to whisper to them? We’re not all soppy parents. It’s revolting.

    Saw the commercial once or twice, it’s annoying enough I flip the channel now. Don’t quite get it, are there people out there that identify with the snobbish kid?

    Only car commercial I’d have to say I like is the Docge one where General Washington driving the car charges into a formation of British redcoats scattering them. It’s so friggin’ weird I can’t help but like it.

    I once again find myself glad that I mute commercials. I’ve probably seen it but never realized what was being said. Which is a good thing.

    Last good car commercial I saw on television was the one where Steve McQueen steps out of the corn field and takes the guy’s car for a spin. But I’ll stick with my ’41, thank you very much.

    And yeah, I was also creeped out by the ‘zoom zoom’ kid. Why was that ad always airing after dark?

    My wife and I hated those commercials the very first time we saw one. The hatred has increased logarithmically with each successive commercial.

    There’s a part of me that inwardly cringes at the thought of hating a child I’ve never met in person. But boy, we hate that one. I think our dog even hates him, and she likes everyone.

  • That’s OK. The kid’s dog thinks your dog is lame because you don’t own a Highlander.
