Monster of the Day #130

This movie’s pretty weak, but I really wouldn’t mind a decent DVD release of it. Sadly, I think the day of small movies like this regularly getting releases has come and gone.

This movie actually scared me when I was a little kid.

  • Well, their is a scene where a guy gets him arm torn off. That was one of the earliest bits of real violence I saw ever saw on TV.

Kind of a different world, really.

I loved this movie when I was a kid. Unfortunately that probably doesn’t say much about my taste in movies…

No idea at all on this one.

The Navy vs The Night Monsters! Great pulp sci-fi stuff with a neato cast, just love it! Seems to me you have to be pretty demanding not to love a nifty matinee B like this one. I’m not saying its perfect, but it delivers the goods.

I do understand Wade Williams’ outfit released a DVD of Navy vs the Night Monsters. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m hoping it has a better print than the one I bought, which is faded a little.

  • About the only thing I can remember from Navy v. the Night Monsters is the guy losing an arm. Scarred me for life.

  • Cheezy Flicks put out the disc available on Amazon; it’s strictly public domain and supposed to look quite bad. This looks rather more promising (look at bottom of page).

If the rumor I heard was correct (I can’t stress the IF enough), the release from Monsterverse was origionally going to be released thru Wade Williams (who seems to own the rights to the picture, as much as anyone does), but he haulted the release when he felt the transfer wasn’t up to quality standards. Then somehow Monsterverse got ahold of it. The commentary track was apparently recorded for the aborted William’s release.

Boy were we ever cheated. We never got Army vs. Day Monsters, or Air Force vs. Afternoon Creatures.

But we DID get National Guard vs The Freedom School. That’s even more terrifying!
