TV Movie on YouTube of the Day #2

Killdozer!

  • roger h

Never saw this TV classic. Does Clint Walker keep his shirt on?

  • TongoRad

No shirtlessness- is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Things I liked about this movie (without being too spoilery):
    – a nice sense of the mens’ isolation and being totally hosed when things start to go haywire

    – some good Killdozer rampage action

    – some good Killdozer stalking action

Pretty much delivers what you’d expect, actually. No real explanation of just why Killdozer is so homicidal, though.

Do you mean to tell me MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE wasn’t an original idea by the King?

  • BeckoningChasm

Killdozer was based on a Theodore Sturgeon story, of all people. I have a vague sense that I read it, years ago, but that’s all I remember. I think there was an explanation for Killdozer, though.

Oh, and there was a comic book based on the book/movie, from Marvel, and it was supposed to be really terrible. Rock can probably correct me on that.

  • What causes Killdozer’s reign of terror is a sentient energy being from a war on pre-human Earth. Sort of Lovecraftian, in a way.

The ladies always deserve a little eye candy ;)

  • Rock Baker

Pop actually had the Killdozer comic book a while back, but he had to sell his collection before I got a chance to read it myself. It was from the Marvel Classic Comics series. The short-story was set in WW2, but I’m not sure about the comic. For something so rarely seen, Killdozer seems to be one of the most famous science fiction TV movies ever shot.

I think you are correct, Rock. Even my wife, who is absolutely not a genre movie buff, know about it. We were talking about the upcoming T-Fest (which she declined to go to on the basis that she would rather watch paint dry), and she mentioned that she had already seen “Killdozer” and once was enough. I could only stand there with my mouth agape. You think you know someone…
