T-Fest 2010!

Wow, is it really only two weeks and change away?  ‘Fraid so.  Here’s the skinny.

The Fest will be held on Saturday, August 21st at the Guildhall at SMU, the venue last year’s T-Fest was held, and likely our regular home for the foreseeable future.  Plano is a suburb of Dallas, for those keeping track.

“The Guildhall at SMU”
5232 Tennyson Parkway
Building 2
Plano, TX 75024

The films should start circa 10:00 in the morning, and end maybe between midnight and 1:00 AM.  There will be the traditional two-hour dinner break, where many of us will repair to some eatery or other to share viands, camaraderie and probably massive headaches from some of the movies we’ll have just watched.

The last two times we’ve had to skip a film due to time constraints, so this time we proactively admitted defeat and just went to seven.  There’ll be three in the morning, Sandy’s non-traditional monster movie quiz, our dinner break, and then four more movies.  The films have been selected by Sandy, Freeman Williams and myself, and Chris Holland will provide all the short subjects.

The Guildhall is a secure building.  We will let people in at the door, but should you arrive after we begin, we can be reached via Sandy’s cell phone at (214) 675-4807.  We will then send someone to fetch you for a nominal fee.

Feel free to bring any favored food and bevs you may wish to partake of.  We only ask that you police your own area and help tidy up before you leave.  Bringing a trash bag or two to use during the even wouldn’t be amiss.

And if we’re lucky, someone might bring homemade cookies.  (HINT)

Sandy’s out of town, I think, so we haven’t gotten permission to release the line-up, but it’s pretty strong, and I can promise Asian weirdness (both Sandy and Freeman, this time), apes, mad scientists, curses from beyond the grave, inept gore, bad acting, bad dubbing, dinosaurs (either really good ones or really bad ones; Sandy hasn’t decided yet) and appearances by Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Cameron Mitchell.  And while nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition…well, expect the Spanish Inquisition.

For those in the Houston area, the Thursday night before the Fest–the 19th–will see some of us continuing the tradition started last year as some of us will meet for dinner.  The location this year will be Hickory Hollow, at the Heights location, as it’s the most centrally located branch.  We’ll be shooting for a meet time of 7:00 or 7:30. Location and menu details may be found here:

If there are any further questions, ask below.  I hope to see you there. If you need details for the dinner, leave a note below.

Ken, how about posting a “doors open at” time? I have split the difference on my 2 T-fest attendences, once arriving so early that I had to sit in the parking lot and wait to be let in and once arriving too late and needing someone to come rescue me. What is the time period that someone will actually be standing at the door ready to let people in?

Had I but world enough, and cash…

    Can’t wait!!!

  • Ericb

    That food looks good.

  • We went there earlier this year before T(ween) Fest, and it was pretty yummy and a good hang out spot.

  • Mr. Rational

    T-FEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my Billy Jack shirt will be there.

  • The Rev.

I say bad dinosaurs, and I further say Attack of the Supermonsters finally gets its time to shine as this year’s T-rex movie, dammit.

I also hope we get a different DVD player and can finally watch Sea Serpent and/or Mystics in Bali.

Chris is bringing the shorts? So the most painful thing this year won’t be a feature, then…wait, I just remembered T(ween)-Fest’s line-up, you and Sandy are more than capable of bringing the pain.

Speaking of which, ignore’s Ken’s attempts at misdirection. My super-duper-secrety sources name the following as this year’s movies:

    Jaws: The Revenge
    Leprechaun 4: In Space
    Witchcraft IV: The Virgin Heart

    intermission
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
Critters 4: They’re Invading Your Space
Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering
    Deathstalker IV: Match of Titans

    Be there or stay sane!
