Apparently my dreams of a ‘Run, Joe, Run’ dvd set are not as unrealistic as I had feared…

What the Hell? And The Keep will never get put out on DVD.

  • Not to mention, that’s right, Green Slime.

Wow… I was alive at this time and everything, and yet I’ve never even HEARD of this show. Or Run Joe, Run, for that matter…
Ok, now you’ve got me looking up obscure 70’s tv shows on Wikipedia, and gettin’ all nostalgic…
(Wait, The Secret of Isis is out on DVD?! DO WANT!)

  • Good gravy. That’s one of those shows that I was sometimes half-convinced I had dreamed.

  • there is at least one big difference between The Keep and The Green Slime.

The Keep is so awful as a horror story that I use it as an exemplar of what NOT to do in my “how to do good horror” lectures.

I remember that show. I also recall that there was a female character named Mrs. Bottomly and that the young John once called her Mrs. Bottom then after a pause added -ly. Why do I remember that?

What have The Keep and The Green Slime got to do with this?

  • They’re NOT ON DVD, despite the fact that they are fairly well-known and even beloved flicks in a genre (horror) that has generally been strongly supported by the industry.

Instead we get Big Joe Little Joe?! WTF? Who wanted this? WHERE THE HELL IS MY GREEN SLIME???

  • Just that those aren’t out on DVD, despite intense longing, while far more obscure things like this are.

Man, I thought I remembered all of these shows. Not this one though. And it had cousin Oliver on it to boot.

It got me looking through some related Youtube videos, when I stumbled on this one from “Korg: 70,000BC”. For a real HOLY CRAP moment, take a look at the 55 second mark, and see who directed this episode of Korg:
