Mega Shark verses Giant Octopus!!!

[Notice that Debbie Gibson gets higher billing than Lorenzo Lamas!]

Thanks to Randy J for pointing this out!  Let’s hope this is half as hilarious as it looks, and not as predictably stultifying as yer typical *koff* SyFy ‘Original’ Movie:

This is due out next week already!!

I’m just disappointed that, at least from the looks of the trailer, they seem to be going for realism over entertainment.

“Notice that Debbie Gibson gets higher billing than Lorenzo Lamas”

Hrmph, that should be DEBORAH Gibson please.

  • itsmenotyou

Pure awesomeness. 2010, February, “And the award goes to…”

  • Okay that shark doesn’t even stand a chance, I don’t care how “mega” it is. Look at the poster, the octopus is not only fighting the shark but absent mindedly destroying a ship with another of its many arms!

  • fish eye no miko

Oh, that looks so wonderfully cheesy. And I loves me some rampaging marine life; especially ridiculously over-sized rampaging marine life… ^_^

  • The Rev. D.D.

I have been burned on so many B-movies with snappy trailers.

But come on! The shark EATS A DAMN AIRLINE JET!!!

If they manage to screw this up, I’m giving up all hope…because that looks like it’ll be so much fun. That’s all I ask. I don’t need quality. I need entertainment.

It appears that the Navy un-mothballs a battleship to take care of these critters. Giant shark vs. U.S.S. New Jersey! All they need to toss in is Steven Seagal and you have guaranteed complete awesomeness!

  • BeckoningChasm

That looks pretty entertaining, all right, but for twenty-two dollars?!

  • BC — Yes, $22 is a hunk, but remember, for Asylum I’ll bet you something like 99% of their sales is to video rental places. (Hopefully people will be dragging this off the shelf when they see that title.) I imagine used copies will be on sale soon for a more reasonable price, maybe $15.

EDIT: As I note in a subsequent blog entry, you can get the DVD from Buy.com for about $16, including shipping.

On the other hand, if the film is at all decent, and largely only constrained by budget (as Scott Foy has indicated), then it can’t hurt to support the company by buying the movie, either. Again, if this does significantly better than their ‘mockbusters,’ it might push the company in a better and more entertaining direction.

  • Well, you gotta “sea” it to believe it!!!
