I haven’t seen everything, of course, but I feel I’ve seen a solid majority of all English language horror movies made prior to, oh, 1980. Then the video age came about and I gave up even trying. So I haven’t seen a lot of the 80s stuff (plus it was the age of gore, which put me off). That includes The Unnamable (1988). Man, it was a good age for practical make-up effect guys. And for dudes who looked like Andrew McCarthy.

    That's how I remember it, as well: entertaining but nothing like Lovecraft. I saw it in college after I got into H.P. and had access to a wonderful little video store in town that carried stuff like that. Haven't seen it since, nor watched the sequel. Might have to check in on it sometime.
