Watch Party tomorrow night….

Be there or be square.

Amazon has one movie I really want to watch, but it’s longer than the 90 minutes or less I usually look for. I’ll talk about it tomorrow’s Watch Party, but if people say yeah, the next one after this might start 15 minutes early to make that more reasonable. But if anyone is against the idea (and again, in the main I’m definitely sticking with the shorter movie thing), please say so.

I might fall asleep in the middle but a longer movie and starting early is fine by me.

So, someone decided to make a slasher movie about Popeye the Sailor Man. Yes, seriously. Go and look for the trailer to 'Shiver Me Timbers' if you doubt me.

The "best" part is how the trailer makes it look like the film budget consisted of whatever spare change they could dig out of the couch.

Expect this sort of thing as more and more old media properties fall into the public domain.

Don't worry, it won't be a regular thing.

I admit, the biggest part of my peeve with this stuff is not that the public domain characters are being used in skeevy horror films, but that it's all being down with so little imagination. In almost all of these films you can remove the character they're using for a killer and replace them with virtually anyone else, real or fictional, and it'd be the exact same story.
