Monster of the Day #3514

The first T-Fest was held in a hotel conference room. Sandy P funded it, and didn’t come close to getting his money back. (The more things change….) As such we for the only time charged admission and allowed film sponsorships. Our first sponsor was Chad Richard (along with the Drauts, our first attendees) who showed Death Race 2000. In honor of this, Chad was given a slot this time and gave the audience a treat with the beloved Fiend Without a Face. I doubt I have to sing this praises of this to this particular audience, but needless to say, it featured probably the greatest ending any 10 year old boy of the era had ever seen.

Such a great fun movie! I'm still surprised that it ended up in the Criterion Collection, though.

It has Tiny Tim so they thought it was "A Christmas Carol".

This is a GOOD one! Why don't I have a copy on DVD? Why!?!??!

BTW: I finished up the Filipino 'Shake Rattle n Roll' series last week. Last night was another Filipino horror tale: 'Manananggal in Manila'. A young single mother to be has a fashion model move in next door to her apartment. Unfortunately the model is actually a type of Filipino vampress called a manananggal (please don't ask me to pronounce that). She looks like a beautiful woman in the day but at night the body separates at the waist and grows giant bat wings so the body from the torso up can prowl the night for victims. It's got a ten-foot or so tongue that can impale foes. And an appetite for the blood and hearts of small children and infants, born and unborn.

Fun movie and interesting take on a cool non-European vampire!
