Monster of the Day #3495

Hmmm. I’m not sure I like this dark gritty remake of Super-Chicken.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Well…this is certainly intriguing. And I do like the chicken to the immediate left of the spaceship(?) who appears to be casually sauntering while everyone else is running in panic.

  • That girl is actually a spy who got caught and is now in the throes of the psychotronic drugs the Evil Overlords had pumped her with to get her to talk. The Red Bird carrying her to safety is her contact at the plant. He's been worried about the risks she's been taking. When she recovers, though, she'll be fine. After all, she knew the job was dangerous when she took it.

  • Beckoning Chasm

The chicken with the woman is carrying her off, because he's insane with the idea of forbidden love. The sauntering chicken is the wife who is going to give her husband what-for.

I like to think that the chicken-man in the foreground is talking to Miss Blonde in a Foghorn Leghorn voice. "Now, I say, now stop fighting me so hard. Ah'm just taking you off somewhere private-like so we-all can have us a conversation without all twenty o' my hens listenin' in."

Running around like chickens with their, uh, uh, oh, sorry about that.

  • 🐻 bgbear_rnh

I believe that bird in considering cardinal sin.

'I've gotta love as big as a battleship for you baby!!!'

  • NobleCobra

"Yes! To be, I say, be like the hu-man! To laugh, feel, want…why, I say, why were these things not in the plan?"

  • Beckoning Chasm

Tonight I bit the big one and watched "Who is Bill Rebane?" because I'm a completist regarding box sets and there was no fate other than what we make. This is a TWO HOUR discussion/documentary about Rebane's career, and throughout I was thinking "I want to see the films that THIS guy made" because everyone is so effusive about Rebane's work. So much wasted enthusiasm…or so much autism on screen. Viewer's choice.

One thing that I thought was interesting was the idea that (referencing Rebane's religious beliefs and specifically "Invasion from Inner Earth") that "Avengers: Infinity War" and thus "Avengers: Endgame" were movies about The Rapture.

…I have to admit that this idea was startling enough to make me want to share it with you all. Probably the only time a discussion about Bill Rebane made me (*cough*) think.

  • Ken_Begg

    Ugh.

    (In other words, you win.)

  • Ken_Begg

That works, but the sentence has to end with a "BEEE-GAWK!"

  • Gamera977

BC, you piqued my curiosity enough I had to go check, I've seen three of Rebane's masterpieces 'Giant Spider Invasion', 'The Alpha Incident', and 'Monster A Go-Go'.

I guess I'd call them movies, they seemed IMHO like a bunch of footage strung together in a somewhat coherent manner and called a film. Like tossing all the left-overs in your fridge on the table and calling it supper.
