Watch Party Vote / Poll….

OK, everyone, I found an appropriate (for us) Christmas movie on Amazon Prime, but it’s somewhat longer than we usually watch. The film is less than two hours, but well over the normal 90 minute or less run times I generally look for.

So we can watch that movie, or we could go nice and short and watch a Christmas episode of an old TV show, more in the 50 minute range.

What say ye? Anyway, hope to see you all tonight.

Either way is fine with me.

Merry Christmas to all no matter what you watch.

I won’t be there, sadly, but which movie is it?

  • Y’all know me, just happy to hang out with friends, so a longer film doesn’t bother me especially given beginning of long holiday weekend, but be warned I might drop off and start to snore. I’ve done all my Christmas cooking today except for the mince pies that I might skip because we have a smaller crowd this year and at least 5 other desserts, including the honest-to-Zarathustra Dickensian Christmas pudding. Yes, I’m bragging, but I enjoy cooking and have had fun this year actually having the time to do it.

Our weird tradition is that we have a really nice dinner and invite friends for Christmas Eve Eve, then eat nice leftovers Christmas Eve so we can just hang out with the kids instead of stressing over making a fancy meal. Christmas Day is Chinese because I have totally culturally appropriated that from my Jewish friends, along with the homemade Challah (but not the country ham) for breakfast Christmas morning. So no more cooking for me except popping prepared things into the oven until Boxing Day.

What weird Christmas traditions does everyone else have. Since we’re all Odds around here, I’m sure there are a few.

Either way is fine by me, with a slight preference for the movie.

  • Gamera977

Yeah, either is fine by me. I lean for the longer movie since I’m curious what Ken has planned.

I think ‘Christmas Mail’ was the name.

I’m not sure you want to watch it though. Stuff like this causes the suicide rate to go up over Christmas…

  • I knew I should have voted!

I’ll avoid it. With the sudden lunacy we got hit with here for the holidays I don’t need any encouragement along those lines.

Some of the people were griping about it. Personally I thought it was just bland. Not bad, just really really dull.

It’s a romantic comedy where a mailman finds out that Kristi North, the newest office worker assigned to answering letters to Santa is really Santa’s daughter.

I don’t think there’s a single rom-com cliché that the movie doesn’t hit. It was like eating a baked potato without any butter or condiments. I mean it’s food yeah, but bland as hell….

  • I’d agree with that assessment. While I can enjoy the occasional Christmas rom-com, if either ridiculous enough or if set somewhere opulent where I can look at the backgrounds whenever the movie lags, this was neither.

It really did just feel like everyone was going through the motions. They couldn’t even be bothered to spray some fake snow on all the green leaves to pretend it wasn’t filmed in July or so.

This one, for me, didn’t even qualify for having on in the background while I do some tedious pre-Christmas chore. Dull but not entertainingly stupid.
