Monster of the Day #3462

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Looking forward to that holiday weekend. Except the heat here is going to be unbearable all weekend. I’ll be hiding in my house, I’ll tell you what.

You know, I would hate to have been a kid back then, bought this magazine mainly for the cover, and found out that they’d Scooby-Doo’d the whole thing (ie, it’s a regular bad guy plane with some kind of mask on it).

Is the Battle Ace Brit using a Mauser? By WWI I think brits avoided them.

  • You know, for a bunch of Battle Aces, they sure do crash a lot.

As I recall Giant Flying Fiery Skull Guy was indeed some sort of trick and not a real Giant Flying Fiery Skull. Which is a shame.

Oh, and if anyone still wonders why G-8 was shooting at the bottom of the basket in that earlier cover art for ‘Skeletons of the Black Cross’ it’s because hr figured out that the skeletons were real bones, but just puppets being manipulated by a German laying in the bottom of the basket on a steel plate for protection against bullets. Which doesn’t explain the story’s scene with hundreds of marching skeletons that G-8 sees heading down a dungeon corridor.
