Monster of the Day #3444

Well, this one is of rather lower quality than Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, that’s for sure. It’s 90% oater, and 10% dinosaur. Still, if you hang in long enough, you get a pretty fun rampage from a dino with a Gene Simmons tongue. I give them credit for going stop-motion anyway, kind of a bold move given the kind of budget they probably had.

Hey guys, whatever it is that you are reacting to must be *really* scary since the monster is *behind* you!

Being a fan of westerns, this is the kind of film to get my attention. I like Carlos Rivas, he had a good career on both sides of the border. He is also in “The Black Scorpion”.

  • Rock Baker

In CinemaScope, no less! That must’ve added some difficulty to the effects work.

Fun trivia note, the armature for the dinosaur was the one built for the aborted Willis O’Brien Gwangi movie from 1947.

  • I’ve seen this flick twice and remember only the dino. Kind of.

In more chilling news, my brother and I were passed by Pennywise the Clown today. He was riding a motorcycle. Which, I dunno, should surprise?

  • Eric Hinkle

Actually, he’s with them, and he’s scared too!

  • Gamera977

That’s one I haven’t seen in a long time. Vaqueros vs. an Allosaurus is a pretty friggin’ cool idea!!!

  • Gamera977

Somehow a clown on a moped was the first thing to come to mind! I assume you mean a big motorcycle?

  • Yep.

  • Ken_Begg

No, no, the dinosaur sneaks up on them while they were watching Secret Invasion*. Sadly, the dino also let his eyes stray to the TV, sealing its doom.

(*Five people watching Secret Invasion, thus makes the Dinosaur the second most improbable thing in the movie.)

  • Eric Hinkle

Secret Invasion — is that some movie I’ve never heard of?
