A Christmas favor…

TCM is running a lot of Christmas movies for the next couple of days, and there’s some good stuff there.  Again, though, I was wondering if anyone could burn a disc for me for The Cheaters, an old holiday favorite (a can of corn, but a beloved can of corn) they used to play here in Chicago (on WGN) every year, only to stop about abruptly about 15 years ago.  The film has never been released on home video or DVD, and is very rare.  Indeed, I suspect it’s only showing up on TCM this year because of people like myself who actively campaigned for it.

The movie plays tomorrow night (the 24th, Christmas Eve) at 8:00 ET, 7:00 CT, etc.  It also plays at 4:45 ET in the following morning, for those who have other things to record in primetime.

If anyone could grab me the film, drop me a note at ken@jabootu.com and I’ll pass on my address.  I will, of course, be more than glad to pay for the disc and postage.

Aside from that, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and so on.  God bless, and may you all have a great holiday.

Merry Christmas, Ken! And to all my fellow Jabootu readers!

Hey, you don’t know me, but I’ve been reading Jabootu since 2005, and I recommend it to all my movie buddies. Anyway, I was going to record The Cheaters on a DVD (I am a big fan of Joseph Schildkraut) and I’d be more than happy to make you a copy!

Merry Christmas Ken and may Jabootu bless us all with another fine year of lousy films.

  • Quartz–Enjoy the movie! It’s simply a wonderful showcase for Schildkraut. It just ended, and man, it really hit the spot. I hope if anyone else watched it that they enjoyed it too.

Ken: Whup, I see roger h beat me to offering you a copy. Still, I’ll keep it on my DVR as a backup, just in case. I just finished watching it, as a matter of fact, and it was as wonderful as promised. I liked Joseph’s hair. ;^)
