Good news on Bofuri (warning: Anime content)….

There are several of us here who watch Bofuri, so I thought I’d updated the broadcast situation. I had previously mentioned that Bofuri was one of (at last count I saw) like eight different either shows that had been partially or totally delayed this season because of, ostensibly, Covid. The problem being that in Japan anime are still broadcast, and in slots pre-bought by the programs’ production committees. So when Bofuri took 2 weeks off several weeks ago, there was a question of when the final two episodes would find slots in which to air.

Luckily, they seem to have gotten the slots to do so, and the final two episodes, #11 and 12, will run in the weeks directly following the 10th episode. (The 8th episode, which was a corker, ran yesterday.) In other words, there should be no further delays.

Also, looking ahead, I’m assuming there’s a good chance there will be a third season. Indeed, one of the major factors, whether their is enough source material, is already taken care of. In Japan there have been 15 volumes of the light novels published. Since a season of Bofuri covers four novels (three episodes a novel), that means there is already nearly enough material for two more seasons. On the other hand, there was a three year gap between the first and second seasons, so I wouldn’t expect this to air anytime soon. I’d say in two to three years would be most likely. Although a Bofuri movie would also be peachy.

As far I can I tell, the light novels, manga and anime are popular in Japan, the anime seems to be doing well here, and importantly, there’s a ton of Bofuri merch. I have two Maple figures myself, of a scant number of such objects I own. One was pretty cheap, but the other one…we’ll, I got it for a comparatively good price compared to what it later sold for, let’s just put it that way.

  • All right! On an anime break at the moment, but glad to know it’ll be there when I get back.

Oh, and thank you for introducing me to it; it’s become a favorite comfort food.

  • I am so far behind in my Anime watching. SO far.

Hey, anything I can do to get people watching Bofuri. I recently gave the Blu Ray to a friend, and his four daughters seemed quite taken with it.

There’s a lot of it and it’s easy to fall behind. I will say Bofuri probably sells itself like no other show.
