Monster of the Day #3308

So weirdly I myself showed Conquest because it looked goofy (it was made during that period when Italian sword and sorcery films were incorporating Star Wars-y stuff, like the Wookies above, ala the Lou Ferrigno Hercules movies) and I had just bought a heavily discounted copy of the Blu Ray. The film still looks soft–see still–and is directed by Fulci, so yes, it’s quite (unconvincingly) gory and the female villainous wears only panties and a head covering golden mask–this is the historical epoch when they had invented panties but not bras, I guess. I don’t know that anyone loved it, but nobody hated it either, I don’t think. I can say neither that I regret showing it, or that I plan to rewatch it anytime soon, if ever.

“If you touch meeeeeee, you’ll understand what happiness issssssss….”

  • I’d likely have managed to dislike it had I stayed awake, but that’s more just my general reaction to the plain mean nature of Fulci’s films rather than any sort of great moral objection or real hatred. Which is why I ignored it and dozed, which seems a more reasonable response than trying to make other people also dislike it because it doesn’t appeal to my tastes. I realize that that’s now considered a ridiculous attitude.
