Monster of the Day #3286

I never saw C.H.U.D II: Bud the C.H.U.D., but my impression is that it’s a more or less unrelated comedic zombie movie with the CHUD title slapped on it for commercial appeal. More comedic follow ups were in vogue back then, with Return of the Living Dead 2 and Evil Dead 2 being obvious examples. Bud is played by the great Gerrit Graham, so that’s a bonus.

The title “Bud the CHUD” tells me everything I need to know about this movie. Never bothered to see it.

  • The Rev.

If I remember correctly, it actually does throw a pretense of actual sequel in, as the zombies are created by an eeeeeeeeevil military plot to use C.H.U.D. remains to make super-soldiers. The result is, indeed, a “komedic” zombie movie. Graham is about the only entertaining part of it.
I’ve seen it twice, once in high school and again a few years ago to see if my younger self remembered correctly how bad it was. Unlike Class of 1999 where my younger self was vastly mistaken, in this case it was pretty on the mark.

  • Haven’t seen it yet.

Yep. Yet. That was the right word.

Graham is good but never seems to get a good vehicle. I did see him once a WWI “melodrama”, it was film in front of a lice audience, and was perfect for him.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Those lice can be pretty appreciative. I thought Graham was good in “Used Cars” and almost great in “Phantom of the Paradise.”

    Lousy misspelling.

    I forgot about used cars.
