Don’t worry, Maple’s napping, not dead. Even in her first day she’s bumbled her defense stats so high that she sleeps right through this multi-creature assault.
(Bofuri has a lot of cool monsters, by the way. However, there are shockingly few stills of any of them on the Internet. And my ancient computer won’t play Blu Rays so I couldn’t even do my own screen capture. Oh, well.)
Finally! After immediately announcing (in a pleasingly sly way) a second season during the last second of the first season–which is VERY rare by the way–back in March of 2020, we waited a while and probably a year later were told that Bofuri I Don’t Want to Get Hurt So I’ll Max Out My Defense’s second season will run in 2022.
After that we heard very little, but again, not that rare for anime. Then 2022 arrived, with it’s four traditional seasons, and I kept wondering when it would play. Until just recently, when I finally admitted that there was no chance they’d be starting this in October, the last season of 2022. And there was still no further word. How bad would things be when we heard? Would the second season be delayed a year or more? Cancelled? Would they change studios, thus all but guaranteeing that the second season wouldn’t be as good. Think One Punch Man season two.
Anyway, we finally got news and a trailer yesterday, and it’s about the best news we could get at this point. The same studio, Silver Link, is indeed back. The core creative staff is back. And also, it will play in January. So a bit late, but not too bad. And really, quality is more important than speed. (Also less likely animators will be worked to death; possibly literally).
Anyway, such is my epically wasted life that this is really, really great news to me. And a profound relief.
