Monster of the Day #3272

Again, Oct 1, a week from Saturday, in a theater (probably) near you. Check it out. Truly a classic.

  • Saw this in my local 1920s movie palace/discount theatre a few years back. The old general manager would pick a Sunday each October and show a quadruple feature of old Universal movies, come and go as you wanted, for $5. Unfortunately he was very suddenly replaced and then COVID happened, so I doubt it will be returning. If it did I still wouldn’t go as they are self-righteously still demanding masks in the theater, even if you have booked it out for a private party.

  • So great on the big screen.

    “Ooh, who does your nails?”

  • I’ve taken time off work to see both this set of films and the ones on October 27. My question is, though, why these pairings? Bride/Mummy makes a small degree of sense: Boris at his best. But Phantom/Creature? Really? Wouldn’t Phantom/Invisible be a better match?

    Oh well, who cares, right?

Yeah ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ that ends in ‘Divorce of Frankenstein’…

and a few “Curses of Frankenstein” it was not pretty

  • And the Alimony of Frankenstein never came.

I’ve always loved Boris Karloff’s remark how it was so very proper for ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ to be made before ‘Son of Frankenstein’. He was such a grand old gentleman!
