Monster of the Day #3258

Well, there’s a poster that knows how to put it’s best, uh, foot forward. Of course, they is also the (?) French poster. Apparently the French also like guys wearing veyr bold lipstick.

Again, horror comedy teams early on usually make a horror comedy. Having already made three–yep–service comedies, it was time for Martin and Lewis to make a spooky comedy. And it’s, surprise, a remake of the early Bob Hope comedy The Ghost Breakers.

If I recall, I think Hope and Crosby cameo in this one (as skeletons).

    Noir queen Liizabeth Scott

  • Ken_Begg

They did, right at the end, and it was cute, but Crosby had nothing to do with the Hope movie.

I don’t remember the title, but there was one Bob Hope movie where he was about to be executed at the very end. The execution was called off, and the guy running the electric chair turned out to be a very miffed Bing Crosby.

  • Eric Hinkle

As the miffed Bob Hope said, “Oh, he’ll take any role!”

  • Ken_Begg

Or the end of Princess and the Pirate where Hope loses the female lead to “a bit player from Paramount.”

  • Ken_Begg

My Favorite Brunette! Peter Lorre is in it and he’s great! Lon Chaney Jr as well.

  • Justin Cicconi

Did they have the Ghost Breakers line about Democrats in this remake ?

Not French, but Belgian; note the Dutch title right underneath. I presume this is the poster that went out in the Walloon section of the country, given the big emphasis on the French title. BTW, the Belgian poster for Night of the Demon is one of my all-time favorites. It even has a perfectly appropriate alternate title: “A Date With Fear.”

    Hercule Poirot applauds you.
