Monster of the Day #3253

I’m sure we could field half a dozen nominees just among ourselves. However, when I think of the most boring ’50s or ’50s-esque sci-fi film, the title that looms above the others is Woman Eater. What a snoozefest! Predictably, they ramped up the ballyhoo for this dull entry by putting out a poster that really exaggerates the movie’s scant charms. A lot of popcorn must have been tossed by the unfortunately kiddie matinees crowds who got stuck with this one.

A great double bill with The Relic, though, if you want a pair of “indigenous people being the world’s biggest asshole practical jokers” though.

Happy Friday folks. Watch something stupid.*

*Not Woman Eater, though.

This one I have not seen. But I’ll take your advice that I haven’t missed much.

As I’ve said before- the only unforgivable cinematic sin is to bore me. I don’t care if the plot makes no sense, the acting is horrible, and/or the FX were made in someone’s basement by a third grader who failed art class- as long as I’m entertained it’s a good movie.

I think this was on Prime at one time, and I saw it there. And it was both contrived and dull.

Oh, yeah, I did see it, the guy in the undies drumming or something.

  • Urge… to watch… rising…

Actually, I think I tried and gave up bored. That, though, doesn’t stop me from wanting to watch things. Don’t ask me to explain cause I don’t know.

Now I’m curious. How many movies about man-eating plants have there been?

  • Beckoning Chasm

Aside from Little Shop of Horrors and (perhaps) Day of the Triffids, I think most man eating plants are kind of guest stars. There was one in Angry Red Planet and one in that movie with the upright Tyrannosaurus (The Lost World?). At The Earth’s Core had one, again as a kind of side menace.

    Mantango?

  • Beckoning Chasm

Well, a guy ate the mushrooms, so I guess that could be called a man eating plants. Before you say it, yes, I know mushrooms aren’t plants.

  • Ken_Begg

Island of the Doomed, or whatever that Cameron Mitchell thing was? Don’t get excited, it’s not great. And Return of Dr. X, which has an Ed Wood connection, and which weirdly I’ve never watched. And there’s a Get Smart episode.

  • Maneater at Hydra; Navy vs. the Night Monsters

  • Gamera977

‘Godzilla vs. Biollante’ though that is more a Kaiju-eating plant than a man-eating one.
