Monster of the Day #3428

Toho’s old trilogy of Yokai films have seldom been available for viewing here in the states. Arrow has recently put out a nice Blu Ray set, but it’s a pricey $100. (Although it will be available for $50 when Arrow does its fall half off sale). You can also rent them for streaming on Amazon, but at $6 a throw. Still, a better bargain than most new movies, surely.

  • I believe they were made by Daiei, not Toho.

Wow, looking at Arrow’s site it’s currently running at $70.00 bucks US- if they do a fall sale and mark it down to $50.00 I’m very much tempted to pick up that set.

If anyone wants to know more about weird and wonderful yokai there’s a really cool site at dubya dubya dubya dot yokai dot com.

And they’ve got ‘Weird Wisconsin: The Bill Rebane Collection’ too. How could anyone not pick that one up!?!?!

Arrow’s movies routinely go on sale in the iTunes Store, so you can buy them digitally for $5 each. No extras in that form, but I picked up all the Yokai movies that way — and Arrow’s sales are so comprehensive that when I bought them they were still pre-orders.

    You are correct! Thanks!

It’s pretty great. Arrow does good work.

The Gamera collection is super nice!

BTW: If you want Blu-Ray copies of the films Deep Discount DVD has the three films on sale for $61.70 US till the end of the month.
