Monster of the Day #3416

Friday continued. The children all left, and entertainment left with them. Arthur, Sandy’s son, showed the French ‘film’ Devil Story. It’s about 20 minutes of movie stretched out to an hour and a half. There’s a mutant guy in an SS uniform who slasher kills some folks, and then the real slow down begins. At one point the mutant is kicked by a horse, and we spend literally two minute watching him bleed from the mouth. Ugh.

Have there been any good French horror movies? I can think of “Eyes Without a Face” but then I draw a blank.

I saw this weird dumb French movie called “Cosmos” a week or so ago. It should have been called “Bill and Ted Go to France.”

So is this anything like ‘Zombie Lake’? France, National Socialists, and well mutants instead of zombies but close enough.

  • Ken_Begg

No, because Zombie Lake is entertaining. Big difference.

  • And now Cullen has to see Devil Story.

  • “Les Diaboliques” (1955) is more suspense than horror, but it definitely qualifies as “Good”.

  • The Rev.

Some of Jean Rollin’s stuff, like The Iron Rose and Grapes of Death, would quality, in my opinion.
