Monster of the Day #3414

Sorry for the absence; I got a bronchial bug (not Covid) and it’s been super hot here–my A/C is set for 78 degrees, and it’s running now at 4:00 AM in the pitch dark–and just generally blech.

So the next movie on the Friday before the official T(ween)-Fest was Child of Peach (1987), a crazy Momotoro film from Taiwain. It’s like Super InfraMan levels of nuts. It’s on YouTube, give it a look. Crazy fun.

“Next, on ‘Wigs for Andorians’ we have the lovely model Vampira, sporting one of Mr. Spaghetti’s latest creations…”

  • The Rev.

Well I was okay with missing Friday with the two movies I knew about, since I own one and did not need to rewatch the other, but now I’m sad I missed this. Luckily it sounds like I can watch it at my leisure.

Taiwan Ronald McDonald might do better than the new Russian McDonalds replacement.

  • Ken_Begg

You and the Bergmans and Jeff weren’t there, so if we do Basement Fest again next year, maybe we can schedule this.

  • Spent so much time trying to work out a Bozo quip, never once realizing how much he looks like Ronald.

  • Kirk

We missed it as well. Sounds like a fun Basement Fest choice.

  • Ken_Begg

Now somebody just has to remember.

McDonalds in Russia? Yeesh. Next thing you know there’s going to be a McDonalds at the base of the Great Pyramid. Can’t wait to see how they handle the mascot for that one.

  • Eric Hinkle

Wow. A quick Google and I just learned that there really IS a McDonalds at the base of the Great Pyramid of Giza. As well as a KFC and a Pizza Hut. Yeesh, it used to be that just walking into their tombs was enough to rouse the wrath of Ancient Egypt and get yourself throttled by a mummy. I wonder how many undead Egyptians these desecrations will raise?

Also, there’s a McDonalds on, well nearly on, the Great Wall of China. Maybe I should be surprised they don’t have them in the labor camps.

  • The Rev.

I will make a note not to watch it so we can do this next year.

  • Gamera977

Wow, that’s awesome! I wonder if I can get some good tanna leaf tea at any of those????

  • Gamera977

I watched this last night. And it’s something else. What I’m not entirely sure.

I had suspected from watching too many return to Vietnam movies that bamboo was highly explosive. This movie just reinforced my suspicious mind that if you drop a lighted match in a bamboo hut BLAM!!!

And I guess I’m not suited to be a villain. If I were to try cackling laughter for more than an hour or so I get a horrible sore throat. Is laughter like a maniac 24/7 a super power or can you attend a training course or something like that to learn the skill?
