Monster of the Day #3388

Happy (?) Monday, everyone. Reminder, there will be a Watch Party on Friday.

I came across this. I don’t think late night hooky horror stage / movie show were still a thing when I was a kid (at least not in my neck of the woods). Looking at this poster, though, I sure wish they had been. Man, it would be great if someone brought these back.

Well, there’s always “Rocky Horror.” Not exactly the same but in the same ballpark.

How can Donna Haynes not have a wikipedia entry?

  • If she did, it would just be one short paragraph. From what little I can gather, she was the wife (and presumably assistant) of a stage magician in Australia. These sorts of horror presentations were her only claim to “fame”.

Speaking of illustrations, it’s a sad day: James Bama, who painted all those great Doc Savage covers, has passed away.

Never been to any but I love stopping at weird road-side attractions. Roadside America is a pretty cool site. If you ever get a chance to stop at Coral Castle in Florida it’s worth it. It’s one of the weirder places I’ve visited.

His work will live forever, though. RIP, sir.

Is that where Doris Wishman shot Nude on the Moon?

  • Gamera977

Lol, trust you to spot the bad movie connection! Yeah, I think it was. I remember thinking the sharp spiky coral must have been murder on the feet and backsides of the nudists. Not to mention it being heated hot enough to fry an egg in the Florida sun.
