Monster of the Day #3372

So after Them! Jeff showed Hell’s Belles, a rather weird biker film (Jeff LOVES biker films) about a guy following a biker gang who’s leader stole his motorcycle. It takes a while for everyone to escalate to killing, and the hero is at times a gigantic a-hole. Pretty good, and interestingly formless in that late ’60s / early ’70s way. The gang is not a female biker gang, by the way, despite the film’s title.

Next was Beaks, an Italian killer birds movie that sufficiently inept that it was marketed here as a camp film, which it isn’t. This was the second to last film, we so were definitely in the home stretch.

Wow, early CGI effects were pretty low-res.

I guess ‘The Birds’ is pretty scary but birds like cats never really frightened me. They’re not scary like say a swarm of killer bees.

I have had nightmares about a pack of small yappy dogs like chihuahuas or corgis attacking me though.

And BTW noticed a Blu-Ray collection of the Ultra Q series for twenty-three bucks US. I remember lots of praise for the series from Ken and several of the regulars. I’m very tempted to pick the series up. Good deal there?

Going to Amazon, I see “Ultra Q The Complete Series” for as little as $10. It says it’s a blue ray…

Thanks!!! Looks like the Steelbook version of the same set. The regular set is $23 at Deep Discount DVDs. The Amazon Steelbook is normally more expensive but marked down with 80% off!

Thanks again BC, glad you caught that!!!

  • It’s worth it, I think. I’ve been watching the episodes off and on and have really been enjoying them.

  • Gamera977

Oh hell, considering the deal BC found of ten bucks for the Steelbook edition and since I’m a member of Amazon Prime free S&H I couldn’t resist.

  • Ken_Begg

Great series, especially at that price. Easily worth $23, a steal at $10. Enjoy!

Me neither. Should be arriving Saturday.
