Monster of the Day #3326

With vampires featured on Sesame Street, they had officially been established as kid-friendly. Saturday morning cartoon/kid shows were replete with Draculas, on shows like Drac Pack, Monster Squad and Groovie Goolies. So it was only a matter of time until some big market product used a mock-Dracula to market directly to the kiddies. And so General Mills decided to put out a monster-themed set of cereals. The first two, unsurprisingly, featured versions of Dracula and the Frankenstein Monster. For myself, I only like Booberry.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I don’t think I ever had any of the three as a kid. I remember Quisp and Cap’n Crunch.

  • Jamie B.

I consumed all three as a kid, plus the werewolf cereal

  • Count Chocula for me. Because Chocolate.

  • Fruit Brute! The other one was Yummy Mummy. Both were basic “mixed fruit” flavor.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I bet Floyd Robertson liked Count Chocula.

  • Jamie B.

Never had the Yummy Mummy. :(

Remember when Quake and Quisp had an election?

  • Beckoning Chasm

Yeah, vaguely…I think Quake lost. Later, I remember he stepped into a machine and went from being a miner to a Vegas cowboy. “I’m neater and sweeter!” he announced.

  • I was never a big fan of flavored sugar cereals, but I vaguely remember possibly trying Boo-Berry once. Give me a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats or Life any day.

Oddly (for anyone who knows me), I actually prefer healthy cereals. I mean, every five years or so I’ll get a box of Apple Jacks or Cocoa Crispies or Boo-Berry. The ones you’ll find in my house everyday, though, are Cheerios (the straight ones, please), Corn Chex and Kellogg’s Raisin Brain. Well, OK, that latter one does have a little sugar in it. But not like Cap’n Crunch or anything.

My weakness used to be Golden Grahams, but the last time I ate some it made me feel sick.

Now on the rare times I eat cereal I prefer Frosted Mini Wheats.

  • Gamera977

It was pretty much always Frosted Flakes with me. Guess I’m just dull…

Now I generally eat something with fruits and nuts- I guess it’s healthy. Or at least healthier. It’s so bland I ate it this morning and yet I can’t even remember the name.
