Monster of the Day #3294

This is one of the earliest ‘classic’ ghost movies. I have to admit, it’s not my favorite. First, I generally like some ambiguity in my ghost movies, and this has none. Also, I’ve never been the biggest Ray Milland fan. It’s certainly not bad, but this won’t make my list of favorites, that’s for sure. Even so, many love it. It even has a Criterion release. (So does The Innocents.)

Heck, Criterion has half a dozen Michael Bay releases, so sadly it’s not quite a guarantee of quality.

  • Jamie B.

Not all of Ray Milland’s work can be as great as “Frogs”. This was back in his formative acting career.

  • I liked this one enough to seek out the novel, though to my shame I haven’t read that yet.

  • Within reaching distance I have their Equinox edition. Which is a sign of something, though I know not what.

Saw the title before seeing the poster, and was thinking to feast my eyes on an orange tabby with a rat puppet in its mouth. Was disappointed.
