Monster of the Day #3279

Well, we’ve hit most of the silent heavy hitters that one might watch for the Halloween season. Now we move on to the Universals. The first, of course, was Dracula. However, don’t forget the very watching and much more dynamic Spanish language version of the film. It’s arguably the better version in every way*, expect for the bleeding wound inflicted by the absence of Bela Lugosi.

*I didn’t say the poster was better.

    ‘I never drink…. tequila…’

  • I can’t say for certain, as I haven’t watched the Spanish version, but it’s hard to imagine discovering Renfield on the Vesta has the same effect without Dwight Frye.

  • That’s Mexican. For Spanish, go with sangria. (grin)

ACK! For some reason I always thought ‘Spanish version’ refereed to the language and not the nationality! I was thinking it was a Mexican film- gee was I wrong!!!

    Thanks!!!
