Monster of the Day #3221

Following the Fest was Sunday for all the people who can hang around. Sandy re-showed the Man From UNCLE episode that coincidentally guest starred both of the pre-Star Trek William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, not to mention also Werner Klemperer. It’s pretty great.

Next we watched the obscure oddity Sound of Horror, known primarily (to the extent it is known) for it’s budget friendly invisible dinosaur (the above is a very short look at it, for obvious reasons), and for early appearances by both Ingrid Pitt and Soledad Miranda. Sadly, it’s only available on a typically bad, if cheap, Alpha DVD. As middle of the road as the film is, I’d love to have somebody find a good print of it someday.

Has there ever been a movie about an invisible gorilla? Sounds like a natural to me.

Or better yet- a invisible National Socialist zombie gorilla???

  • Beckoning Chasm

I can kind of see the dinosaur, but what really grabs my attention is that thing that looks like a body hanging from its feet.

  • This sounds horrible.

See what I did there? Eh? Eh?

I’ve got millions of them! Millions!

  • Dr. Orloff and the Invisible Monster might qualify.

If you want to watch the same story, but with more Oscar-winning actors, there’s Blood Tide.

  • Gamera977

Ohhhh, will check it out! Thanks!!!

  • So long as it’s understood that I didn’t recommend this movie. Not saying it’s bad–haven’t watched it myself–but all I’m doing is filling in some trivia blanks. It has an invisible ape-like monster in it. It might not even be a gorilla; it might be a chimp or something. Dunno. Just I’m aware of it, it’s on the To-Do list, and may God have mercy on my soul.

I watched ‘Orloff Against the Invisible Man’ on YouTube by TriCoast Worldwide which seemed to be the same thing. Anyway it’s an invisible man in a ape suit.

I’ve seen worst movies but not that many. I was a bit shocked by the amount of nudity including a pretty gross rape scene that seems to go on and on. Would I recommend it? Frankly it’s so bad it’s terrible. But if you’re in the mood for that sort of thing, hey it’s on YouTube and it’s bad, really really bad.

I might be better with a crowd, but you never know until you try, and if it falls flat everyone is probably just uncomfortable. I’ve avoided showing Zombie Lake at a Fest because of ALL the nudity, but really, it’s so great that I’m sure I’ll give in some day.

I still haven’t seen ‘Zombie Lake’ but from your review it sounds ‘so bad it’s good’. ‘OAtIM’ is so bad it’s terrible. Honestly the offensive stuff is at least interesting, most of the movie is just dull, flat and boring. I found myself constantly checking several websites I post to and finally with about twenty minutes to go with the pulse-pounding edge-of-your-seat ending coming I paused the film and took a short nap.

As said it’s on YouTube so you and Cullen are welcome to check it out yourselves of course but frankly I’d say the movie is a good cure for insomnia.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I took a look at their channel. Wow. Old cheapie movies, Ozzie and Harriet, and instructions for knitting? Definitely goes under the “eclectic” category.

  • “… the movie is a good cure for insomnia.”

So’s Zombie Lake. It’s currently my bottom of the barrel for Zombie flicks. Though even as I write this I have the sneaking suspicion that I’ve seen worse.

  • I’m not sure “Great” and “Zombie Lake” should be in the same sentence.

  • Ken_Begg

YouTube! Bah, I own the DVD!
