Monster of the Day #3202

Happy (Ugh) Monday. Still, only several weeks away from the spring T-Fest, so that’s cool.

Speaking of cool, look at this model! I’m assuming this one is home made, using a Seaview toy? Sadly, in the real world the Seaview never bumped into the Green Gossimer from the Toho/Warner Bros. co-production of War of the Gargantuas. I would definitely buy this if I saw it, though.

Indeed, for years I’m been back and forth on buying a model of the Seaview. They get as long as six feet (!), but the three foot one would be pretty sizable. And it’s not that expensive, for a three foot model. Probably because the design is so sleek so the mold must be pretty basic. Gorgeous boat, though.

That creature made several appearances on “Lost in Space” as well.

Lol, when I first saw it I was thinking ‘Mothman’, it’s the eyes I think.

Our modeling club had a guy who was nuts about the Seaview. He had a dozen or so kits including the six foot/two metre long monster. Now I’ve got a dozen or so kits of the Trek Enterprise and I’ve known guys with a garage full of Batmobiles but he’s the only Seaview fanatic I’ve ever met. Interesting guy, he’d mostly dropped out by the time I’d joined so I only met him a handful of times but serious case of Asperger’s Syndrome with him. Smart as hell but no social skills at all.

I think the Jonny Quest Energy monster would have made a cool model – easy to paint, too!

Also, the saucer/spider from Jonny Quest would be really neat, too.

  • Beckoning Chasm

If you search YouTube, there’s a guy who made a stop-motion version of the Jonny Quest opening sequence–which includes the spider. It’s really neat and extremely well-made.

Man, that’s JUST like me! Except the smart as hell part.

I’ve seen the Seaview but what the heck is that hairy thing?
