So after Ants we ended the overnight shift with Jeff’s choice of Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo. The film is infamous for it’s subtitle, which became a running punchline of ’80s comics. However, the movie itself is seriously great. Just a wonderful, joyful dance film. Also, as I’ve noted before, I had a crush on it’s star Lucinda Dickey.
Taking advantage of the fact we were running this show, we took an extended morning break. We left the house and went to L&L Snack Shop for a fortifying breakfast, which also allowed for some gabbing. Some comedy was had because few of us had cash, as is required there (I gave my cash to Kirk and Patty for their check, because Chad R said he’d grab my meal, only to have him then say, “Sorry, I don’t have any cash”). Anyway, we barely muddled through and after a quick stop at the bank returned to the show.
We opened the day shift with the choice of our hosts, Paul and Holly, which was Terror of Tiny Town. It’s short and also it’s a one joke movie (a completely standard oater of the time, only with an all midget cast), it’s also pretty entertaining. It went down pretty easy.
GalaxyJane then presented our feature today, The Thing with Two Heads. It’s goofy as hell, but actually pretty good. There’s an extended car chase with more vehicular mayhem than any movie this side of The Blue Brothers, Ray Milland is pretty great as the racist head scientist (sorry), Pam Grier’s cousin acquits himself fine, and the humor is generally funny. It’s certainly a major step up from the vile The Incredible Two Headed Transplant, made about the same time.
