Monster of the Day #3160

So the Red Letter Media guys posted a new video yesterday, another Plinketto thing where they line up movies and use a pegged board to randomly pick from the flicks. One of the films was The Suckling (what a horrible title), which I don’t think I’ve ever heard of. That doesn’t mean I haven’t used it already. C’mon, I’ve done 3000 plus of these, and these late ’80s/early ’90s monsters kind of look the same. Still, practical effects, so yay on that score.

I’d be willing to bet that they made the monster first, then thought “Hey, we can put this in a movie.”

  • The Rev.

I think you have used it once before, but whatever, it’s still pretty nifty. I have seen it offered on at least one Roku channel but have yet to watch it. Not that RLM’s review lit a fire under me or anything.

I’m kind of proud that I have one up on the RLM guys, in that I sat through Ice Cream Man without bailing. And I was alone, no less. I’m not saying I made the wise decision, but there it is. Honestly, they’ve watched worse than that so I was kind of surprised. I mean, it’s not like they were trying to watch Last Year at Marienbad or something.

Aaaah, Last Year at Marienbad. That was the stuff.

Plan 9 and “The Swarm” on TCM tonight. Must be bad movie night, also rarely seen “The Conqueror”.

  • Eric Hinkle

I got an e-mail from TCM that called tonight’s programming ‘Golden Turkey Award Night’.

  • bgbear_rnh

I saw the The Conqueror when I was in high school many moons ago. My memory was this is what a real turkey is, all that talent and money and nothing works. All the tripped horses may be the hardest part for modern audiences.

  • Eric Hinkle

Agreed. It’s one thing when someone like Ed Wood makes a mess of a movie; but The Conqueror had people who supposedly knew what they were doing.
