Monster of the Day #3147

That is one weirdly buff skeleton.

Is that a sock that’s fallen on his skeletal ankle? That’s a great little detail.

  • Weird Wonder Tales. As opposed to Normal Wonder Tales or Mundane Wonder Tales.

Great cover, incidentally. The glowing red eyes really do it for me.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Looks like it might be the work of Gene Colan and Tom Palmer.

  • Eric Hinkle

I love that cover, but he’s one oddly muscular looking skeleton.

And am I the only one who misses these horror/monster anthology comics titles? I used to live for these from Marvel and DC and Gold Key and all the other publishers every month.

As beefy as he is and with the flannel shirt if he had an axe instead of a scythe I’d think he were the undead lumberjack.

    Just like his dear mama

  • Arvell Jones and Tom Palmer, per Grand Comics Database.

Yeah, the skull is more Mike Ploog-ish than Colan. Check out the (amazing) cover of Tomb of Dracula #16 for a Colan skeleton.
