Monster of the Day #3140

I’ve always been vaguely interested in mainstream movies from the ’80s and early ’90s that you forget/didn’t know had monsters in them for no real reason. Like, oh, The Coneheads, or Howard the Duck. I was watching YouTube yesterday and saw a clip from Weird Science, the John Hughes movie where geeks Anthony Michael Hall and Some Other Guy turn a barbie into Kelly LeBrock, who’s basically Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie and uses her *cough* ‘science’ powers to help them get girlfriends or something. I think, I never saw it. However, there was a clip with a monster in it, so there you go.

That was Bill Paxton as the older brother to one of the main characters

    Game over, man! Game over!

Ahhhh, the, er, poop monster! Good times…

Believe it or not, I can see the resemblance.

Poor Chet, he was not that bad a guy.

  • Never seen this film And from what little I’ve seen through clips, I have no desire to do so.

Which really, really says something bad about my taste in films. This in no way looks like a bad film and I don’t wanna watch it. Meanwhile, I was warned repeatedly about films like Ghosthouse and Zombie Lake and dove into both the instant I could. With Zombie Lake I was giggling with anticipation.

I saw it about twenty-five or so years ago. Ken is right on about the plot. It’s an okay film but I haven’t had any desire to seek it out since then for a reviewing.

It’s the Cinematic Bell Curve, man. The stuff at the extreme ends are the films you want to watch. (Although mediocre stuff in your wheelhouse is always going to get a watch over great stuff in a genre you don’t care for.)
