Monster of the Day #3136

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Sadly, Blood Freak isn’t on Amazon anymore, but there is a decent print on YouTube. I’m sure they will autoinsert some commercials in there, but hey, it’s available.

If you have Amazon Prime and are looking for stuff to watch over the long weekend, I’d suggest watching some of the classic (to us, anyway) AIP movies that Prime currently offers. Get them while they’re there, and also let the Prime algorithms know customers want this sort of fare. I’ve noticed them beefing up their Shaw Brothers kung fu movie selection lately, so they do keep track.

Amazon Prime currently offers Blood of Dracula from our old pal Herman Cohen, as well as his fun How to Make a Monster. Also up are Day the World Ended, Night of the Blood Beast, Attack of the Crab Monsters, War of the Colossal Beast, Earth vs the Spider and The She-Creature. That’s three Paul Blaisdell movies right there.

Non-AIP flicks include Horror of Party Beach and Monster of Piedras Blancas, which would make a good double bill.

Anyway, have a great holiday, and with family and friends or solo today, let’s all remember some of the myriad things we should all be thankful for. Not to be mawkish, but you guys are all one of those things for me.

Cool! And I noticed the other day Amazon has the Paul Lynde Halloween Special that Ken reviewed on prime as well. Haven’t watched it yet but am going to try this weekend.

Also Shout Factory got the rights to ‘The Devil Rides Out’ and just released a beautiful Blu-Ray with US/Canada coding so you don’t have to try to find a European copy and a regionless Blu-Ray/DVD player anymore. My copy came yesterday and I watched it last night. Great flick plus I read the Dennis Wheatley novel for Halloween. Great novel too plus the movie sticks pretty close to the novel’s plot.

I always expect a western when I hear the title ;-)

Oh my what an oddball film. Surprised to hear the guy was a Tarzan in a few European produced jungle films.

  • This gobbler. I was okay with it right up to the end, where it pulls the Sin That Can’t Be Forgiven. Gah. Gah, I say!

  • Gamera977

It would make a pretty good title for a biker film too.

Best thing I can say about this movie is the Ann, the female lead.

    Downside: Drug addict.

Upside: Absolutely gorgeous and willing to stick with the hero after he becomes a half-human half-turkey abomination and even discusses marriage after he becomes a monster!!! Of course it turns out in the end to not be quite what it seems.

  • The Rev.

Joe Bannerman played this on Wednesday on his Facebook page, so I was able to see it for Thanksgiving which was nice.

I’m wondering if your STCBF is the same as mine. Well, I’m happy to let people know in case they haven’t seen it: they include footage of a real turkey being decapitated and the body bleeding and flopping around. And, as always, it’s not that it’s done (I’ve seen and helped with various animals being prepared for food), but that they put it in a movie for our “enjoyment.”

  • While that probably should be, that’s not my STCBF. It’s a failing of story, not of taste.

The Lone Ranger meets the Sagebrush Satanists?

On a double bill with “Hell Bent for Leather”.
