Monster of the Day #3126

As Beckoning Chasm noted, Cult Cinema Classics has posted Larry Buchanan’s Zontar Thing From Venus. I guess Larry didn’t think he could use the It’s Alive/Creature of Destruction/Curse of the Swamp Monster suit again. And yes, it looks awful–never do we appreciate the superlatively talented Paul Blaisdell more (or Roger Corman or Peter Graves or Lee Van Cleef or Beverly Garland or….). Still, that Buchanan was able to churn out these remakes on literal budgets of $25,000 per is astounding. It’s like a dog walking, I guess, or a cat who can drive a car.

Probably the best aspect of this movie is how SCTV embraced it.

  • The Rev.

Considering what happened every time a cat drove a car that I’ve seen, it seems appropriate to bring that up in regards to this movie. Which, I’m certain, was intended ’cause Ken is a clever boots.
