Monster of the Day #3125

One of the less televised Hammer horrors back in the day was Kiss of the Vampire. I think one of the major reasons is the lack of familiar Hammer actors. Not just Lee and Cushing, but no Andre Morell, no Andrew Keir. Hell, no Michael Ripper. I thought he was in everything.

It’s got a pretty good opening scene, but I don’t remember much of the rest of the film. Of course, I have seen it in probably more than 40 years. The ending was ported over from the original climax of Brides of Dracula, which was rejected by Peter Cushing. It also carries over the idea of vampirism being a cult. Anyway, there’s a gorgeous print up (for the nonce) on YouTube on the Sallis 65 channel.

  • Wise choice to listen to Cushing with Brides. Too bad they didn’t do the same with Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.

    Yeah, ouch.
