Monster of the Day #3123

Galaxy Jane and Jaime had to leave on Sunday. The rest of us started the day by watching Tales from the Third Dimension (yes, as indicated by the still above, in 3-D), an anthology with a Cryptmaster like puppet host voiced by a guy doing Rod Serling. The big episode was about a grandmother who runs out of meds and turns homicidal against her young visiting grandkids. The ending of this segment was a hoot.

  • The Rev.

This ended up being a surprisingly good anthology, which makes its obscurity all the more confusing. The first story makes up for a blatantly obvious twist by including a second, smaller one that none of us expected. The second one had a very nice EC feel to it. The third, which I’d seen, manages to ramp up the madness right to the end and contains some surprisingly decent kid actors, as well as the woman playing Granny, who is just delightful. And the host segments were charming, with silly puppets and a surprisingly good Rod Serling impersonation from the character up there. If you can find it, give it a whirl; I think you’ll have a good time.

I think I apologized to Arthur for trying to block him showing this, but in case I didn’t: I’m sorry, Arthur! In my defense, I was confusing this with Tales From the QuadeaD Zone, which I had seen previously, and is absolutely ATROCIOUS.

  • AH GOD THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE GOT UNCA SAM TOO WHY DID IT HAVE TO HAPPEN WHY GOD WHY!!!!1!
