Monster of the Day #3044

Historians have marked this as the first appearance of a Scottish Kaiju, as evidenced by his kilt and the fact that he’s living in a cave, indicating he’s cheap. (What? My ethnic joke book from 1972 says this is hilarious.)

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Are you sure that’s a kilt? Looks more like overalls to me…though I’m having trouble seeing how many limbs that thing has.

Maybe he’s just a poor working class kaiju then?

  • Gamera977

This looks like a job for AQUAMAN!!!

    Sorry…

  • Eric Hinkle

    A chav kaiju?

Only if we can go with the Batman: Brave and the Bold Aquaman.

While on the subject of grottoes and monsters I watched ’47 Meters Down: Uncaged’ last night. Pretty friggin’ good shark movie, best one I’ve seen in years. Four schoolgirls go SCUBA diving in a series of submerged Mayan catacombs. When a giant blind cave shark shows up it turns into a suspenseful game of cat and mouse. Neat idea, having a shark movie with the divers in a labyrinth with their air running out was a nice change from the normal open ocean or beach setting.
And the girls while panicked mostly acted sensibly, there were only two WTH moments in the film. And I learned from this movie that the population of Mexico consists of white and black folks with one Asian girl. I mean it’s set in MEXICO and I don’t recall seeing one LATINO person!!! Not a problem, but it just seemed really odd to me!

    Speaking of “kaiju”…

I don’t remember if Ken’s already mentioned this, but “Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster” is available free for streaming on Amazon Prime. Based on last night’s viewing, it also seems to be the original US dub. This is no doubt a huge oversight by Toho’s legal department, so you better check it out now before it gets yanked faster than you can say “King Seesaw.”
