Monster of the Day #3030

There’s a really nice (pirated, no doubt, so see it while you can) print of The Boogens on YouTube. It’s one of those little gems you stumble across occasionally, that manages to nail so many basic things–nice script, characterization, good acting, some extremely nice sets–in a way that makes you wonder why so many other independent productions failed so badly at them. Nice monsters, too. Give it a look.

Alright, who sent Ken my baby pictures!!!!

It’s a decent horror film, but for some reason it always had this sleazy feel to me. Maybe that’s part of the attraction?

It comes close to the line for me, but doesn’t cross it. It’s an instinctive thing, though, isn’t it? You watch it and it is or it isn’t.

This would be a great double creature feature with The Deadly Spawn for little hidden gems that you can’t believe aren’t better known. I finally saw both of them a few years ago, and was like, “Damn, wish I could’ve seen these sooner. Also, why don’t more people talk about them?” I’m not saying they’re the best thing ever, but both are definitely worth tracking down.

This is a fun little movie. Good pacing, some really tense moments. And those monsters are just adorable.

Just watched this one, via YouTube–thanks Ken! It’s pretty cool, but I would have loved it more had the monster action started a bit earlier. Still, Rebecca Balding (ouch for the name) is very sexy.
