Monster of the Day #2087

Coming soon to a theater near you!

Kong has been featured here many times, but I figured folks would want to know that TCM and Fathom Events will be hosting two showings, an afternoon and an evening one, next Sunday (the 15th) in theaters nationwide. If you have access to a kid, you might want to bring them with you. Let them experience the magic. I’ve seen this in theaters many times, but it never gets old. If you’ve never gotten the chance to see it on the big screen, give a shot. You won’t be sorry.

If anyone wants to give an anime classic a spin, the subtitled Tokyo Godfathers plays in theaters tonight, while a dubbed version plays on Wednesday evening. Details at Fathomevents.com.

I said it before but you can’t say it enough:

    ‘HAIL TO THE KING BABY!!!’

Only 13 years until the King Kong Centennial! It was only 31 years old when I was born. Yikes.

Didn’t Forrest Ackerman own some original models used in the movie? I wonder what happened to them after he passed.

  • We are going to be on the road Sunday, so will regretfully have to give it a miss. Hope it does well enough to encourage more of these showings.

Great to hear about ol’ Kong here. I wish I could get to one of the theaters showing him in all his glory.

On a much sadder note, Max von Sydow just died. I don’t think he starred in very many of the sort of movies we enjoy here, but he had some good roles in his career. Thanks, Max, you were a class act.

    Great Ming the Merciless.

He was in the good, not for jabootu Exorcist ;-)

Yeah. He was Ming. How can I possibly forget Ming the Merciless?
