Monster of the Day #2065

There’s still lot’s of stuff on Amazon Prime we haven’t covered, well, I know not everyone has Amazon Prime. How about YouTube? There’s a channel called Flick Vault, and they have been posting full movies. Some of them are (mainly British) horror movies. One is the fun Island of Terror with Peter Cushing, a great little monster flick. The copy is pretty good, certainly broadcast standard.

Has anyone seen the trailer for the new Fantasy Island horror film? I guess that Banana Splits movie will be more influential than we thought.

This movie is one of my favorites. The noises the creatures make are just incredible.

My mom used to have an ElectroLux vacuum cleaner that looked a lot like a Silicate. I wish I’d seen the movie back when I was a kid, what fun I could had reenacting scenes from the movie!

    >> Has anyone seen the trailer for the new Fantasy Island horror film? I guess that Banana Splits movie will be more influential than we thought…

LOL. Yeah, it looks like the next “genius” horror film all right. I have trying to figure out if it is going to be bad enough to enjoy that way…

  • Eric Hinkle

It was a good flick but some of the scenes were seriously gross, like when the silicates ‘reproduced’.

And a Fantasy Island horror movie?!? This is on the level?

  • Gamera977

Well, yeah. I can’t eat chicken noodle soup for a few weeks after watching this…

  • Gamera977

As I remember ‘Fantasy Island’ it did have a bit of a horror element. I think Mr. Rouke faced off against Satan at least once. But yeah, a horror film sounds absolutely dreadful. And 2.5 hours is way too long.

I’ll be glad when this whole reboot obsession of Hollywood is over and they think about making new stuff again.

  • Or at least remake something that could use a proper remake.

  • zombiewhacker

One of my favorite sci-fi horrors as a kid. I finally got it on Shout Factory Blu Ray last Halloween and I’m glad I did.

  • Ericb

Love to know, though, how these things managed to climb into trees.

  • Rock Baker

I can’t think of any other movie which so perfectly presents the scientific process of investigation. The bit where they test various weapons of increasingly destructive power remains one of my favorite moments in all science fiction cinema.

Trying to find Flix Vault, but internet searching leads to a movie called “The Vault” and a bunch of Netflix suggestions. (Again, mainly involving a movie called “The Vault.”)

  • Ken_Begg

My mistake. I’m so used to people trying to get ‘clever’ with misspelling that I remembered it that way. It’s actually Flick Vault.

  • Ken_Begg

Captain Kronos has a pretty good (if wince-inducing) scene like that too.

  • The Rev.

I’d heard they were doing an “FI” movie. I had no idea it was a horror movie, though. Why do I feel like it’s basically going to be Wishmaster Goes to the Bahamas?
