Monster of the Day #2055

Seventh Curse is a typically crazy Chinese supernatural action flick, starring a young Chow Yun-Fat and Maggie Cheung. On Amazon Prime.

I’ve wanted to see this for some time. But yeah, $10 a month is a bit dear, believe it or not.

    Ahhh, now that’s the stuff.

Well, now I know what I’m watching tonight!

Do it. It’s pretty freakin’ great if you’re into this type of movie. Old Ancestor here alone is almost worth the price of admission. Well, him and the actress who has a scene in the nude…and another scene in the not-quite-nude that somehow manages to show more than the nude scene. Ken isn’t the biggest fan of this type of fast-paced all-over-the-place filmmaking, but I recall he liked this one all right (I could be mistaken, though). Hopefully it’s the dubbed version on AP, as some of the lines are howlers and just add to the overall fun of things.

Oh, there’s also a scene where everyone’s pretty sure they killed a stuntman. See if you can spot it!

You sold me!!! Sounds like a riot!

He walked into a bus while looking at the naked girl.

Lol, after I started watching it I remembered I’d seen it a little over a year ago on AsianCrush but had forgotten the title. Still it’s fun enough I watched it again. The only things I remembered beforehand where the blood curse with the bladder effects and the gorgeous native woman.

There’s a title before the movie with AsianCrush on it so I’m guessing they and Amazon are sharing films. In any case this version is subtitled but everyone has been given a Western style name like Chester, Sally, or Wesley. Which struck me as a little weird to say the least.

And odd I’d forgotten about Old Ancestor and the flying fetus demon thingee. How is beyond me since they’re both absolutely bat-guano insane. The movie is worth watching just for them!

  • That’s how I picture myself dying. I’m 104 years old, and while I’m crossing the street, I’m checking out a lovely young lady, and BAM!

  • bgbear_rnh

    A lovely young lady of 64 ;-)

Hong Kong folks might adopt English names for use in business. I am not sure.

I looked it up on the IMDB and the characters are all given Chinese names there. But they’re saying ‘Chester’, ‘Sally’ etc in the movie. So darned if I know!!!

I’ve been there, so I get it. Here’s to a better 2020, then.
