Amazon Prime round table….

Hey, with the holiday this week, it might be a good time to have an Amazon Prime round table. If you have Prime, just pick one of the zillions of flicks of all genres and eras and send me your thoughts. If you don’t have Prime, just watch anything you want and do the same. Length is up to you. Do a paragraph or do ten pages.

Send me your piece(s) at ken@jabootu.com.

Have a good week, everyone!

Well, as I stated I watched ‘Robo Vampire’ Friday. And I kept wanting to doze off. Near the end I did and had to rewind the thing. Way too many characters without any personality shooting at each other with automatic weapons. And not nearly enough vampires or Robo Warrior.

I watched the sequel ‘Robo Vampire II: The Devil’s Dynamite’ last night. Frankly I thought it was much better. A little confusing at points but having an actual rivality between Steve Cox and Madame Mary helped. And more vampires! And having Robo Warrior turned from a Robocop knock-off into more of an Ultraman knock-off was odd but seemed to work better. Not that it’s a GOOD movie mind you but it didn’t put me to sleep.

The Rev is right, try Crocodile Fury. I don’t think it’s on Prime (I’ll check) but it is on YouTube, and it’s hilarious.

“If you don’t have Prime, just watch anything you want and do the same.” You somehow managed to pick a week where I don’t plan on watching any movies! Rather, my desire is to focus on inking and doing clean up on my comic book this week. The odds of this intersection of events is truly staggering!

This comes at a good time; I found out a movie called Death Kiss is on there now. It’s an homage to Death Wish, with an actor whose resemblance to Charles Bronson is nigh-terrifying. B-Movie TV regularly plays the trailers for movies done by the director, Rene Perez, and I think this is a good place to take the plunge into his oeuvre.

Unless I decide I really need to see one of the giant killer crab movies, which admittedly is more my speed.

Ha, we’ll do it again. I can’t wait to see your book!

OK, I checked out ‘Crocodile Fury’ last night on YouTube. I knew in the first five minutes it was going to be a doozy. From the horrible paper-mache looking croc prop to the witch’s skull with the light bulbs in the eye sockets (could this be considered a ‘nut o’ fun’?) I for sure wasn’t going to sleep on this one! And bonus props for the croc’s underwater lair that reminded me of ‘Sting of Death’.

And if I may ‘Robo Vampire II’ did have some nicely done martial arts fight scenes unlike ‘Robo Vampire’ and ‘Crocodile Fury’. I mean we’re not talking Jackie Chan or anything but they did take the time to work things out instead of just pointing fake guns at each other.

And if I may point out a decent if not even good hopping Chinese vampire film? ‘Vampire Cleanup Department’, 2018, Hong Kong is a Men in Black/Ghostbusters type movie about a team that drive around on Hazmat trucks fighting undead outbreaks.
The real star is an intern who assigned to destroy a teen-aged vampress accidently wakes her up. Instead of attacking she’s more interested in watching TV and eating congealed blood soup.Being a Chinese vampire she can only hop around instead of walking so he buys her a Segway to drive around on!
There’s some horror but it’s more a comedy. Anyway it was fun and did make me smile.

For those interested, the first issue is on sale now via Amazon…

It wasn’t until I saw CROCODILE FURY that I fully understood the term “gonzo” as I do now.

  • Ken_Begg

More of a romcom, actually. It’s quite good.

  • Gamera977

I picked up a copy of the first comic. Fun story and Rock is one heck of an artist!

    Thank you very much!

    I’m sold.
